Ghana Temple

The Accra Ghana Temple is one of Ghana’s must-see structures. It is a temple built by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The magnificent building was dedicated by the 15th President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gordon B. Hinckley, on January 11, 2004. The building, which is the 117th operating temple of the LDS Church, sits on 6 acres (2.4 hectares) while its floor area is measured at 17,500 sq ft (1,630 m2). The second of three temples built in Africa, the Ghana temple’s exterior is made of Namibia Pearl Granite. It was officially open to the public December 3 through 20th, 2003. It serves members in Ivory Coast, Ghana, Benin, Liberia, and Sierra Leone and boasts two sealing rooms, stake center on the grounds, and two sealing rooms.

Ghana highlands

Ghana is blessed with a number of highland sites and forest that are too beautiful to behold. Due to the country’s altitude or thick forest, these sites are very cool in climate. It also has well-equipped conference facilities that can accommodate up to 250 people.

Kakum National Park

Established in 1992, in the Central Region of Ghana, the Kakum National Park is one of 3 locations in Africa with a canopy walkway. The park covers an area of 375 square kilometers. Its dominant vegetation type is the moist forest. Kakum is surrounded by 33 villages while its welcome center contains a picnic area, wildlife education center, camping area and agricultural lands where food crops and cocoa are planted.

Lake Volta

Lake Volta stretches from Akosombo in the south to the northern part of Ghana. Its surface area is put at  8,502 square kilometers (3,283 sq mi), making it one of the largest man-made reservoirs in the world. It is formed by the Akosombo Dam, which on the other hand, provides electricity for most Ghanaians. It also helps in the exportation of goods to countries such as Benin, Togo, and nearby countries.

Ghana Independence Square

The Ghana Independence Square is situated in central Accra. It features classic monuments showing Ghana’s struggle for independence and other historic displays. Also known as the Black Star Square, it is bordered by the Accra Sports Stadium and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. The square was named Black Star Square in 1961 and has 30,000 seating capacity. It was commissioned by former President Kwame Nkrumah to honor the visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Ghana.

Mole national park

Located in northwest Ghana on grassland savanna, the Mole National Park is the country’s largest wildlife refuge. It was established in 1958 while its surface area is 4840 km2
